Brainspotting
Brainspotting functions as a neurobiological tool to support the clinical healing relationship. There is no replacement for a mature, nurturing therapeutic presence and the ability to engage another suffering human in a safe and trusting relationship where they feel heard, accepted, and understood.
Brainspotting gives us a tool, within this clinical relationship, to neurobiologically locate, focus, process, and release experiences and symptoms that are typically out of reach of the conscious mind and its cognitive and language capacity.
Brainspotting works with the deep brain and the body through its direct access to the autonomic and limbic systems within the body’s central nervous system. Brainspotting is accordingly a physiological tool/treatment which has profound psychological, emotional, and physical consequences.
Brainspotting is offered several times a year and each session is typically 90 minutes. To request an appointment with Dr. David Grand or another colleague, please contact Stephanie Cinque at stephanie@resiliencycenterofnewtown.org.

MNRI
MNRI (Masgutova Neuro-Sensory-Motor Reflex Integration), also known as the Masgutova Method, addresses primary reflexes patterns. When we experience trauma, our primary reflexes come into play in order to protect and serve us. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) coincides with these primary reflex patterns, remaining in an active state. Individuals may experience various symptoms such as anxiety, irritability, difficulty sleeping, difficulty focusing, and sensitivity to sounds, decreased immune system, and more.
MNRI is a non-verbal, body based therapy that uses movement and stretching to address the activity in our reflexes in response to stress or trauma. Following an initial assessment, specific reflex challenges are identified and a basic treatment plan is created. Often clients are provided with a simple home program and instruction on how to apply basic MNRI techniques between visits. MNRI is reported to be a calming, relaxing experience used with both children and adults. Here is a new video on the technique and its benefits: MNRI video
MNRI targets the emotional center of the brain without talk therapy in a gentle and noninvasive way in order to achieve proper realignment of the sensory-motor reflexes. For more information, go to the MNRI website: http://masgutovamethod.com/about-the-method/the-mnri-method-approach-programs
